Vaillant has been setting standards for more than 140 years. The family-owned business started by making water heaters and entered the boiler industry close to 40 years ago.
Through its illustrious history, the company has set up shop in over 20 countries and has had some major breakthroughs with its range of boilers. It is the second-largest manufacturer of heating technology in Europe, and despite its size, the company has kept a hawk-eyed look on the quality of their products.
One of the ways they have managed to do this is by having sites where its products are designed and manufactured in strategic countries with stringent quality control measures. These countries include the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany and Turkey, among others.
Vaillant has expressed its willingness to produce not only energy-efficient heating solutions for its customers but also environmentally friendly products that reduce CO2 emissions and guarantee sustainable heating that the company is proud of.
Typical Prices for Vaillant Boilers
Like most responsible boiler brands, Vaillant doesn’t sell its boilers directly to the homeowner. To get a Vaillant boiler, you have to source it from a Vaillant Advance Installer. This ensures the boiler is installed by a competitive and well-trained expert to guarantee the safety and the best performance.
Compared to other boiler brands like Viessmann, Vaillant has a more premium price tag. This is because the brand outsources most of its components to specialised third-party manufacturers to guarantee high quality and high-performance parts as opposed to having the parts made in-house.
Depending on the type, output, and efficiency of the boiler, Vaillant boilers will cost you anywhere in the region of £720 to £2,800. This doesn’t include the cost of installation.
The cost of installation is not as easy to estimate. It depends on a variety of factors, among them the extent of the work required, whether this is a first-time install or a boiler replacement, as well as your location.
While the boiler installation cost is not easy to estimate, it makes a significant part of the total boiler cost. Having an idea of how much the installation is going to cost goes a long way in helping you budget and choose the right boiler.
Compare the Boiler Market can help you get competitive and accurate quotes from qualified boiler installers in your area. This goes a long way in not only ensuring you get competitive rates, but you also enjoy quality boiler installation and efficiency.
Some of the boiler installers will offer additional services like boiler financing that you can take advantage of to get your new boiler without digging yourself into a financial black hole.
Why Choose a Vaillant Boiler
There are numerous boiler brands, each of them trying to grab the attention of the buyer. To get an edge, different brands focus on different aspects of their boilers to make them more appealing. Knowing what each brand places emphasis on can help you in making the right choice and choosing a boiler that feels customised to your needs.
Vaillant is no different. They have a wealth of experience having been in the heating circles longer than most of their competitors. The fact that they have a presence in over 20 countries gives the brand a good grasp of what customers are looking for when buying a boiler, and it’s no doubt that they have the skills and resources to implement and add these features to their boilers.
Vaillant is often referred to as a premium boiler brand dedicated to providing customers with energy-efficient and affordable heating solutions. You might have to pay a little more than you would for other boilers of the same output, but it’s safe to say that you will be getting value for your money.

A broad network of installers
With some boiler brands, getting an accredited and reliable installer can prove to be a challenge. The same is not the case with Vaillant. Their boiler installer network is broad and easily reachable. This allows customers to get better services and competitive boiler installation rates and quotes.
Vaillant Boiler Warranty
While we hope you don’t run into any problems with your new boiler, it’s always prudent to have a fall back plan in case things don’t go as planned. Having a warranty for your boiler gives you peace of mind and something to fall back on if the boiler fails.
Standard Vaillant Boiler Warranty
Most Vaillant boilers come with a 5-year boiler warranty. With some models, the boiler warranty might be a little shorter. The warranty starts as soon as the installation of the boiler is complete.
If you choose to have a Vaillant Advance Installer work on your boiler, the warranty can be extended up to 10 years free of charge.
What’s Covered by the Warranty?
The Vaillant warranty covers both parts and labour. With their network of aggressively trained installers, you can have up to 98% of boiler problems sorted on the first visit by the engineer. The installers carry up to 95% of the replacement parts with them, ensuring that you can get your boiler back on its feet in a short time.
For the warranty to remain active, you need to ensure the boiler is serviced annually by a quality boiler engineer as well as keep up with the terms on your warranty card.
Compare Vaillant Range of Boilers
After being in the industry for so many years, one of the most valuable lessons that Vaillant has taken is the need to have variety.
Customers are looking for bespoke boilers tailored to their needs. While it’s impossible to design a boiler for every customer, having different types and models of boilers with various features allows each customer to find an acceptable boiler that matches their needs and solves their heating problems.
Vaillant Combi Range
When you’re limited on space and you don’t have a high demand for hot water, a combi boiler is a great option. Combi boilers are preferred for limited spaces because they don’t come with hot water cylinders which take up a lot of space.
Even without the cylinders, the combi boiler is still capable of producing plenty of hot water for a small home. Also, the boiler is among the most efficient mainly because there’s no heat loss when the water is stored, and also, the boiler only produces hot water when it’s needed.
Combi boilers have everything you need in one unit. This makes installation much easier which reflects on the boiler installation cost you pay.
If you’re inclined to get a good combi boiler, Vaillant has a wide variety of options that you can consider. They come in different sizes, outputs and efficiencies to suit different homes. Your options include:
- ecoTEC Pro Combi Boilers
- ecoTEC Plus Combi Boilers
- ecoTEC Exclusive Combi Boilers
Benefits of a Combi Boiler
- Combi boilers are extremely energy efficient.
- They provide you with hot water when you need it, so you don’t have to worry about being limited by the size of your tank.
- They are easy and straightforward to install and easy to repair too which saves you money in installation and repair costs.
- You save on space because the boiler doesn’t need tanks, which also means you don’t have to worry about a lot of pipework.
Vaillant System Boilers
For homes with more space to give and perhaps more shower rooms, consider the system boiler. This type of boiler relies on hot water tanks, which is why you need the space but provides plenty of hot water to keep up with the demand around the house.
System boilers and combi boilers work the same way. But, system boilers have hot water cylinders that store the hot water and are automatically topped up each time you use the water.
Vaillant has quite a number of different models of system boilers that you can consider. Each offers a wealth of features and convenience for your household. All you have to do is pick the right one.
Some of the Vaillant system boilers you can choose from include:
- Vaillant ecoTEC Plus
- Vaillant ecoFIT
- Vaillant ecoTEC Exclusive
Benefits of a Vaillant System Boiler
- System boilers are highly adaptable and can be used in different properties.
- They are compact and can be stored in a kitchen cupboard. The tanks are installed in the loft.
- You have several models with different outputs and sizes to pick from depending on your needs and preferences.
- With system boilers, you don’t have to worry about limited water supplies. The hot water cylinders are replenished every time you use hot water.
Vaillant Regular Boilers
Regular boilers are not popular. But, they still have their place in the heating industry. They are great for homeowners looking to replace their old boiler without having to do the pipework again.
Even though there’s reduced interest in regular boilers, there are plenty of benefits that come with owning one, particularly when you have a large home that has a high demand for hot water.
If you’re looking to save money on the boiler replacement, a regular boiler can greatly reduce the installation work and cost.
Benefits of a Vaillant Regular Boiler
- Like combi and system boilers, regular boilers come in different outputs and sizes to suit the needs of different homeowners.
- Regular boilers are ideal for older homes with traditional central heating and pipework.
- With a regular boiler, you will have plenty of hot water all around the house.
- Regular boilers work great for homes in areas with low water pressure. The boiler has a cold water tank in the loft that collects water and feeds it to the boiler.
Vaillant Boilers Problems and Common Fault Codes
Buying a new boiler is an exciting experience. To keep your boiler functional for the longest time possible, you must understand your boiler. Understanding the common fault codes and problems that your new Vaillant boiler might run into and how to handle such situations.
Dry fire, insufficient water
This is the most common problem. It affects not only Vaillant boilers but also other brands. If your boiler is having this problem, it’s going to show a fault code F22. Luckily, it’s a problem you can easily solve without the assistance of an engineer.
Vaillant boilers have an external filling loop that you can use to adjust the water pressure and clear the error code. You only need to open the little tap and wait until the pressure gauge on the boiler hits 1.5 bar then close the tap.
To clear the fault code, you will need to reset the boiler. For Vaillant EcoTEC Plus models, the filling loop is built-in, so the process is a little different.
Frozen Condensate Pipe
For safety, Vaillant boilers have a condensate pipe that drains outside the house. The boiler is designed to fail to ignite in case the condensate pipe is blocked to avoid harm and accumulation of harmful gases inside the house.
If your condensate pipe is blocked, the boiler will lockout.
Pour hot water over the pipe to thaw it. In case the pipe is blocked, you can remove the plastic waste pipe on the far right of the boiler to remove the build-up. Make sure you have a bucket under the pipe to avoid making a mess.
This problem is common with the Vaillant Turbomax range of boilers. The problem is often caused by a lack of gas flow to the boiler on startup.
It’s possible the failed ignition could be caused by ignition leads that are in a bad state hence, no spark is generated. If this is the problem replacing the ignition leads will help to remedy the problem.
If there’s a spark, the next step is to check if there is gas flowing through. This is a risky process and requires a technician to assist you. If the valve has power, but the gas is not flowing, you might need to change the gas valve.
